"We’ve achieved over 10,000 sales through Groupon since we started using the service, and this is a tremendous amount of leads that we wouldn’t have been able to get through any other means."
"With more people going online, using Groupon has enabled us to reach more customers compared to when we first launched which includes those from further afield. This success has also been mirrored with other parts of the business that have seen uplift in customers. In terms of ROI, upselling has been a major benefit. Often people take extra treatments on offer and this brings in additional revenue that goes back into the business."

DoubleTree by Hilton, Cadbury House, is one of the South West’s finest four-star, boutique-style hotels. Set within rolling North Somerset countryside and 20 minutes south of Bristol, the venue has become one of the leading venues for weddings, private parties, business events and spa breaks. The arrival of a Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill also strengthened the venue’s reputation as one of the best places to eat out in the region.
In addition, the venue boasts one of the largest independent health club and spas, where members enjoy a range of world leading facilities, 20-metre swimming pool, classes, saunas and steam rooms. The Club and Spa has also become a firm favourite with people from right across the South West wanting to enjoy a spot of pampering and beauty treatments.
While the health club, lounge, and spa was doing well, particularly at the weekends, one of the biggest challenges that the business faced was maintaining customer numbers during quieter weekdays. Given its semi-rural location, the health club and spa wanted to generate additional awareness in the local area as well as further afield. With more people having access to the internet the management team needed to consider additional marketing tactics to help boost visitor numbers.
When the business had just launched in the UK, it was approached by Groupon. Following its success in the US, it wasn’t long before Jason Eaton, General Manager considered using Groupon to help boost specific parts of the health club and spa business.
Cadbury House Club and Spa has enjoyed a 50-60% increase in customers following the Groupon deals. This success has also been mirrored with other parts of the business that have seen uplift in customers, and upsell has resulted in additional revenue for the business from people taking extra treatments.
One of the most popular deals is a spa day, lunch and use of the club’s facilities, which sells over 1,000 each time. The business has also offered afternoon tea deals in the lounge which generates around 500 sales each.
"The working relationship has always been great. For four years, we’ve had a dedicated account manager that’s looked after us every step of the way, and it’s that relationship which helps drive the fantastic results we’ve seen. We can trust each other and we know how each other works, so it’s really benefited both of us."
