About Deeside Ice Rink
Deeside Leisure Centre is located in Queensferry, Flintshire, and houses an extreme sports arena, fitness suite and day spa, and 3G football pitches. It is also home to an 8-court sports hall with squash courts as well as dance studios, function and party rooms, and a licensed café with soft play area. The complex is the National Centre for Ice Sports in Wales and facilitates an Olympic sized ice rink and hockey rink, offering parties, skating and hockey lessons as well as hosting hockey games and ice skating competitions. Prior to joining Deeside, Colin Hughes had worked in several other leisure centres around Flintshire and surrounding areas for over 24 years. Now the Duty Manager of the ice rink, Colin enjoys running the facility and managing sales as well as all promotional activity.
The Challenge
Deeside Ice Rink wanted to increase customer footfall during quieter periods, as well as brand awareness of the leisure centre and its other facilities.
The Result
Deeside Ice Rink has run several campaigns with Groupon, selling several thousand vouchers in the first few months alone- with plenty of new customers gained month on month. The key benefits from working with Groupon is boosting revenue during quiet business times, and upselling across other activities such as BMXing, skateboarding and climbing.
