When investing in a coat for winter, we look for something that will be practical to keep us warm throughout those very cold days but also something that’s fashionable too. This season there are so many trends, there really is something for everyone. If you had a pink pastel coat last year, hold onto it, as it’s still very much in fashion.
Farewell Collars
The collarless coat is a big trend this season. Wear it in all manner of colours, go bold and bright in yellow, or choose something darker like a berry shade. With so many takes on this style on the high-street it should not be hard to find one you like. Pockets or zip detailing add extra details, so keep your outfit simple and wear with a dress and tights.

Blanket Coats
This style is hot off the catwalk from Burberry Prorsum’s show and celebrity style icons Olivia Palermo and Alexa Chung have already been spotted out in these cape style blankets. This is a really easy coat to wear and a good one for layering. Opt for something checked and wear it with a waist belt to show off your figure.
Classic Trench
You cannot go wrong with a classic trenchcoat. Year after year, it lives on. This season, the classic has a bit of a twist, available in a variety of bright pop colours to even a leopard print. This coat is a timeless investment that will never go out of fashion.

Rain Macs
These bright-coloured and metallic rain macs appeared everywhere on this season’s catwalks from Prada to Miu Miu, where they were teamed with chunky knit sweaters and satin dresses. Practical but yet completely fashionable, you will definitely be making a splash in these.
Biker
Gone are the days when biker meant a leather jacket covered in studs. These long line biker coats will keep you cosy and warm in winter. Team them with jeans and a fluffy eyelash jumper, or wear it with a stylish dress and heels.

Faux-Fur
One trend I am always an avid follower of in winter is faux-fur. Being fashionable but warm is my key agenda during the cold months. This season sees the return of the faux-fur collar, which adorns a whole host of designs on the high-street. Otherwise opt for a coat that is fluffy all over. Pastel pinks, reds and baby blues are your best bet and are perfect to wear day to night.

Robe Coat
This coat style couldn’t be easier to wear - it’s like popping on your dressing gown and leaving the house. This is also one of the most flattering coat shapes as it nips you in at the waist, just where you want it to. Look for a style that has an oversized collar and a chunky belt.
Parka
The parka gets an update this time round. The signature khaki green coat adds a fun vibe with big coloured fluffy hoods. This one from H! by Henry Holland at Debenhams does the trick.
