The winter months have got us craving gooey cheese with heaps of bread to dunk into. Skiing is on our brain, but we can’t get to the mountains just yet, so instead are going to satisfy our cheese and Alpine cravings by heading to one of these fabulous fondue restaurants in London.
The Lodge - Clapham
Back for its second year, previously of Balham, The Lodge has now moved to Clapham and is the creation of Jimmy’s Pop Up. A real Alpine retreat in South West London, head to the Lodge for fabulous fondue, wild game and charcuterie, amongst other delights. It’s popularity means booking is advisable.
St Moritz - Soho
St Moritz on Soho’s Wardour Street has stood the test of time. Opened back in 1974 it claims to be London’s oldest Swiss restaurant, and who are we to argue. There’s a range of fondue available on their mouth watering menu, including a chocolate one if you’ve managed miraculously to save any room for afters!
Androuet - Spitalfields
Androuet, located in Old Spitalfields Market, is home to a cheese shop, bar and restaurant. As well as fondue so they also serve raclette, cheese boards and fresh cheese pasta, no shortage of cheese here then! The set menu for two is great value at £40 for fondue, raclette, charcuterie and a carafe of house wine.
Fortnum’s Lodge - Somerset House
A real festive choice, the Fortnum’s lodge is popping up this winter as part of the Somerset House Fortnum & Mason sponsored ice skating rink. You can get packages to enjoy fondue post skating, or if spectating is more your thing then warm yourself in the Lodge with cheese fondue and fine teas, or something stronger, until the 3rd January.
