Tattoo Removal in Manchester

BY: Ruth Allan |11 Jan 2016

Once considered permanent, tattoos are now no longer a ‘forever’ kind of thing. From spur-of-the-moment madness to designs you’ve simply grown out of, reasons for unwanted tattoos are infinite – but we’re not here to judge. Whereas desperate ridding methods once included acid and pigeon excrement, advanced laser technology means such extreme resorts are a thing of the past. So forget your worries, and loose your unwanted markings with our guide to the best tattoo removal experts in and around Manchester.

Sparkle Aesthetic Lasers

Sparkle Aesthetic Lasers pride themselves on offering Harley Street style beauty solutions at attainable prices. Service is quick and efficient whilst staff are both knowledgeable and informative. Like most specialists, Sparkle employ Q-switched lasers to remove tattoos, which work by using PhotoAcoustic energy to gently penetrate the skin. Light energy breaks up the ink particles through subtle vibrations, meaning the procedure is non-invasive and relatively painless, particularly when compared to the original tattoo procedure.

Flesh Tattoo

Unlike the above, which offer various laser treatments, Flesh’s singular forte is tattoos. This Northern Quarter outpost has long been satisfying customers with its minimalist, hygiene-oriented studio and state-of-the-art equipment. The multinational, highly-skilled team have garnered extensive accolades for their technical artistry so of being in safe hands you can be sure. A warning though: the first removal treatment is free if you decide on a cover-up tattoo with Flesh, meaning you may be tempted to get another...

Dermaskin

This international brand lives up to its clean, clinical name, with a team of highly-skilled doctors and spotless facilities. Located in vibrant Spinningfields, the Manchester clinic is renowned for its relaxed ambience and jargon-free advice. Also refreshing here is the honesty: expect realism about what to expect from your results rather than an insincere hard sell. Unlike many larger companies, which can feel impersonal, Dermaskin prides itself on offering a tailor-made service. There’s ample parking too, a rare entity in the city centre, and the clinic operates a competitive price match system.

Sk:n Clinics

The team here is comprised of specialist skincare doctors. Since its conception in 1990, as a private Harrogate clinic offering port wine stain birthmark removal, Sk:n has grown to become the country’s leading skincare company with 36 clinics nationwide. Not only that, it’s an NHS partner and accreditations include the British Skin Foundation and Which Laser Clinic, while the brand as a whole boast more safe tattoo removals than any other provider. Indeed, for medical expertise at a reasonable price, Sk:n can’t be beaten.

Beauty Club

Venture a little out the centre to find this popular institution, located in Manchester’s student-heavy suburb of Fallowfield. For delicate laser procedures like tattoo removal, Beauty Club’s pink sugary marketing conceals accreditations from both BMA (British Medical Association) and BMLA (British Medical Laser Association). Since opening in 2002, services have expanded extensively, making it a one-stop-stop for a whole range of aesthetic solutions. Due to being located just outside Manchester city centre, fees are generally less too.

Successful tattoo removal is dependent on many factors. Generally, between five and ten treatments are required and it may not be possible to remove particularly stubborn inkings. Black and blue pigments are easiest to eliminate, reds are moderate but yellow and green can be problematic. White and UV tints don’t respond well to laser treatments, with discolouring the likeliest result. Location is also important: fleshier areas facilitate removal, as do those nearer the heart. Between appointments a minimum of four weeks is advised to allow the skin to heal. Of course, hygiene and technical precision are needed whatever the case, which is why we've selected five venues with the utmost standards. So here’s to starting afresh with a truly clean slate.
