About Hook norton brewery

With a history spanning over 100 years, Hook Norton Brewery is a family-run brewery boasting traditional Victorian features. Incorporating a steam engine and water tower into their beer making process, the team makes every endeavour to provide clients with a quality end product. After learning more about the history and brewing process, visitors can sample a range of beers, satisfy their hunger at the Brewery Visitor Centre, and see some of the old equipment, photographs and records displayed in the on-site museum. The Brewery has three shire horses, Cromwell, Brigadier and Balmoral. We aim to have the horses in the stables during your visit but this may not be possible due to operational or weather reasons

The brewery tour was really good, Peter who took us on the tour was great and we had beer tasting at the end. My husband and I chose to have lunch and a few drinks here too which was lovely then a trip to the large gift shop before we left. It was a great day out and would recommend!

Great tour taken around by David our guide. This is a victorian tower steam brewery, which as our guide told us is one of only 2 breweries still using shire horses to deliver beer to the local village or town. It still has it's original steam engine although now only used as a backup in case the electricity fails. A lot of the original features are still in situ but some are redundant like the cooling tank high up on the tower due to more stringent health & safety rules. The tour ended tasting 3 samples of beer & a complimentary beer glass to take home. The brewery also has a museum, shop & cafe to have meals. A good 2 hours will be spent although 3 is the minimum.
