IDOL Soft Play - The Abbey Leisure Centre, BarkingAbout IDOL Soft Play - The Abbey Leisure Centre
Striving to create a fostering environment for the little ones, Idol Soft Play invites young adventurers to explore a snakeskin ball pit, drop slides and other soft play attractions in the heart of Barking. The soft play was designed by Marvin Gaye Chetwynd, an artist who has received a nomination for the Turner prize. She was inspired by the Dagenham Idol, a 3000-year-old figure found in Dagenham in 1992, now on display at Valence House Museum in Dagenham. Children visiting Idol Soft Play can encounter its inspiration's mystery by climbing into the gigantic body of the Idol, look through its eyes and leap down the slide. Parties can be organised on site to celebrate a special occasion, and adults can unwind with a cup of coffee.
