On the up side the food was good quality, the service excellent and value-for-money exceptional. On the down-side, this hotel is being re-furbished but the restaurant hasn't been upgraded yet. Although clean and well laid-out, the decor is a bit tired with faded carpets and scuffed tables. However, the main disappointment was the menu. Instead of the wide choices given on the Groupon sample menu, we were only given 2 choices for each course eg for the main course you can only have chicken in mustard sauce or chickpea curry. It was a real shame that they couldn't have included more options. It would have made a big difference.

Won’t be coming back here for afternoon tea, terrible finger sandwiches, my latte was cold, the scones were dry and tasted like poor quality scones from a cheap supermarket. The best part was the treatment/massage that I had at the spa.

This spa experience should be taken down due to the renovation works ongoing. Terrible experience with workmen on the stairs as you access the changing rooms, had to trek 2 flights of stairs with doors open and materials laid out to change. Sat in the spa can hear everything from drilling to workmen talking. Complete disgrace that they are allowing customers in and facilities also need updating promptly with 1 sauna out of order which i wasnt informed about wither. I have given 2star only because the Elemis facial was good although room was fairly cold. Honestly wait until renovations complete do not waste your money.

The treatment was lovely, the salon is friendly and welcoming and is nicely arranged. However, we didnt get our prosecco which was part of the package we purchased. The spa is not really suitable as a spa. There is no pool or hot tub, its nothing more than a couple of showers and saunas. It was ok for what we paid but i wouldnt recommend it, also slightly embarassing as it was a valentines day gift for my boyfriend. As mentioned in other reviews, the arrangent for the changing rooms is bizarre, you have to get in a lift in your robe and towel. They really shouldnt try keeping the spa open would be better off closing the hotel while they are renovating.

A bit disappointed to start as no one at the front desk directed us to where we would be having our meal and as I am disabled the signage wasn’t clear so had to get in the lift and then walk down the stairs, which is difficult for me, and no signage to leave after finishing our meal I had to walk back up the stairs and a fair walk back to the lift. I had received a phone call to say due to “a technical issue in the kitchen” that our reservation for 7:30pm would not be possible & could we get there for 5:45pm,which after rushing about we made it. We then found out it wasn’t a “technical issue” at all and that there was a private Christmas Party booked for that evening….really can’t understand why your colleague called & told untruths??? The girl who served us was very polite & a credit to your hotel. The food was really nice & we just felt rushed to have our meal, which we had in the mezzanine bar & not in the restaurant (confusing).

We decided to buy this and go based on the customer feedback that had I read, which was mainly very positive. I was aware that the restaurant is being renovated but lots of the feedback referenced a great experience in the bar area, and good food with a good choice. Our experience didn't resemble any of this! Four of us were seated in the breakfast area of the restaurant with only one other couple near us. It was stark and bright with zero ambience/atmosphere. We were handed an A4 piece of paper with a choice of 2 starters; soup or a mushroom bruschetta and a choice of 2 mains; mustard chicken or a chickpea curry. None of this resembled the picture in the advert for this deal or indeed any of the feedback from other customers! The only positives were that the food was OK, the wine was good and the staff were helpful and friendly.
