Formerly known as the Amberley Chalk Pits, this site was a working chalk quarry from the 1840s to the 1960s, with many original buildings still visible, including four sets of lime kilns. The Life and Lime display delves into the quarry's history and its workers. The Museum also features numerous hands-on interactive exhibits where you can learn about the evolution of communications and how electricity is made, alongside a collection of over 25 vintage vehicles spread across the site.

About Amberley Museum

Formally known as the Amberley Chalk Pits, the Museum site was once a working chalk quarry from the 1840s until the 1960s. Many of the original buildings can still be seen including four sets of lime kilns. Our Life and Lime display explores the history of the chalk pits and its workers.
