What is platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy?
This 30- 60-minute treatment sees a selected area injected with platelet rich plasma in an effort to help target damaged and aged tissue and lessen the visibility of fine lines, pigmentation, hyperpigmentation, melasma, active acne, acne scarring, Rosacea, age spots and dark skin around the eyes. The PRP Serum injections also help with tightening the skin. This treatment encourages rejuvenation of the skins natural tone and elasticity and reducing the appearance of wrinkles and frown lines.
What happens at the sessions?
An initial blood sample will be collected from the patient, before it is placed in a centrifuge machine which separates natural body proteins from red blood cells. The remaining natural proteins will then be re-injected into the selected area. There maybe some discomfort, if you are eligible for topical numbing, you can add this to your treatment for minimal pain during the procedure.
What about aftercare?
Minimum down time. You can return to work the same day. Some of the side effects include; mild swelling, bruising and redness of the target area following the treatment. Avoiding vigorous activity for 48 hours. Face can be washed the next day. Results can be seen immediately after the treatment, but final results take approximately 2-3 months to emerge.
We normally recommended min of 3 sessions to see maximised results. After the initial course of 3-6 sessions that are done 4-6 weeks apart. Tops ups are recommended.
