The Deal

Visitors will be able to scale the UK’s tallest sculpture to take in views of up to 20 miles over Stratford’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and beyond. Starting in the lobby, under an 80 tonne domed steel canopy, visitors will make their way up to the viewing platforms at the top of the tower, offering sweeping views of the London skyline and perception-warping mirrors. Entry for a child between the ages of three and 16 years old, adults, or families of two adults and two children, with kids under three years old able to enter free of charge.

The Merchant

Located in London’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, the ArcelorMittal Orbit’s unusual steel form, created by sculptor Sir Anish Kapoor and designer Cecil Balmond, commemorates 2012’s games, as well as London’s energy and creativity. Based around the idea of an orbit, a continuous line that loops up and back down around itself, Britain’s largest sculpture doesn’t raise in a straight line and is made from 2,000 tonnes of steel, with more than 60% of the structure formed of recycled metal. The structure not only offers commanding views of the capital but at night is lit up by 250 spotlights and is surrounded by parkland, with plenty of meadows, wetlands and waterways to explore. The Orbit also boasts a gift shop and restaurant serving up a host of East End-inspired dishes, while venue hire is offered alongside events such as abseiling experiences and Orbit Lates.
