Facial Steaming & Cleansing
If you've undergone some form of spa treatment in the past, you probably know that steaming is among the most popular and common facial steps. If not, this stage of the facial is when your skincare professional directs warm steam onto your face.
The thin vapor relaxes and softens your pores to make it easier for your aesthetician to extract whiteheads and blackheads without damaging your dermis. Typically, steam will not be used on those with sensitive skin types as it may do more harm than good.
Exfoliation
Exfoliation involves lightly rubbing a product with a gritty texture to the skin in order to remove the outermost dead skin cells. This process makes it easier for the skin to absorb the products that will be applied at a later stage of your facial.
But, that's not all it does. Exfoliation naturally enhances production and synthesis. By stimulating natural production within the dermis, you'll enjoy plump, luscious skin that is ready to absorb the goodness of the products to come.
Extraction
Extraction does exactly what it says on the label! This process involves extracting any whiteheads and blackheads from the dermis. Typically, facials only include this step if it's applicable to the person in question. If you do not suffer from clogged pores, your aesthetician may skip this step altogether.
Extractions can also be quite uncomfortable. With that in mind, you may want to opt out of this facial step if your pain tolerance is low. This is especially relevant to those with ruddy or thin skin.
Facial Mask
Once your aesthetician has provided you with a facial massage, they will apply a facial mask to your skin. This mask will be chosen based on your skin type and your beauty goals. Typically, they will leave this mask on your skin for 20 minutes .
