An authentic Persian feast will begin with starters such as chicken breast and saffron rice (usually £4.50) or baba ghanoush of baked aubergine with oils, homemade yoghurt and lemon juice (£4.30). Mains can include a mixed grill with minced lamb and chicken, grilled on a skewer and served with an array of sides (£13.50), a salmon kebab (£12.50), or even a giant meatball stuffed with chickpeas and onion (£10). A menu of sweet treats to finish features traditional baklawa (£2.50), and an Iranian sorbet of refined noodles and lemon (£3.50). Each diner can also sip on a traditional Persian tea.

The Merchant

Just a short walk from Paddington station, Cheminee crafts a menu of authentic Persian cuisine amid a Middle-Eastern atmosphere. Dishes feature traditional lamb and chicken dishes, with meats cooked to order for each diner, while vegetarian stews and specialist desserts such as baklawa make for varied flavours. The eatery is open every day of the week for lunch and dinner, and private parties can rent out the space for custom celebrations.
