The Museum
Steeped in nostalgia, Chiltern Open Air Museum is intended as a way to preserve the heritage, traditions and rural landscape of the Chilterns. The museum features a number of historic curiosities, including reconstructions of several significant buildings and structures that would otherwise be demolished, such as an Iron Age house, Astleham Manor Cottage and a working forge. The 43-acre site is also home to a small working farm, which is operated using traditional machinery, skills and self-sufficient methods. Rare-breed sheep and chickens, cows, working heavy horses and farm cats can be seen wandering the farm, and local wildlife resides in the site's expanse of woodland, orchards and meadows. Indoors, visitors can browse the gift shop and library, and some of the museum's collection of around 5,000 relics and artefacts. A tea room can also be found on site for those in search of refreshment.

Adults and children alike enjoy their visits, as well as some of the events held at the venue. Praise also went to the welcoming and well-informed staff.
