• What's included: MOT car test with an optional safety check, or service and oil filter change

The MOT test covers the following:

• Vehicle’s bodywork and structure check to ensure there is no excessive corrosion that may affect its structural integrity
• Tow bar (if fitted) check to ensure it is fitted properly and has a functioning electrical supply
• Fuel system (including all its hoses and pipes) check for leaks and to ensure it is secure
• Exhaust’s emissions check (along with its general condition - safely secured, noise and leaks) to make sure it meets emissions regulations
• Catalytic converter check - if one was factory fitted
• Seatbelts check to ensure they are working, safe and secure
• Airbag warning lights, seatbelt pre-tensioners and load limiters check
• Seats check to ensure they are secure and that the driver’s seat can be adjusted
• Doors check to ensure they open and close properly from the inside and the outside and all latches are secure and in a good condition
• Mirrors check
• Boot and bonnet check to ensure they open and close properly
• Brakes check (with the wheels on) for braking efficiency (called the efficiency test), this will also include the electronic parking brake, ESC (electronic stability control) and ABS (anti-lock braking system) if fitted as standard
• All dashboard warning lights check including the brake fluid warning light
• Wheels and tyres check for security, general condition, tread depth, size and type; spare wheels and tyres are not covered in an MOT
• TPMS (tyre pressure monitoring system) check for vehicles registered after 1 January 2012
• Vehicle’s registration plates check to ensure they comply with the regulations and are fitted correctly
• VIN (vehicle identification number) check to ensure a single VIN is displayed
• Lights check to ensure they are functioning and aimed correctly
• Washers, wipers and windscreen check to ensure clear road visibility
• Horn check for suitability and function
• Steering and suspension condition (and steering oil) check for inappropriate repairs and corrosion and that the steering lock works correctly
• Battery and any electrical wiring that is visible check

Safety check includes:

• Spare tyre check
• Washer levels check

Service and oil filter change includes:

• All oil filters check
• Tyre treads and pressures check
• Top-up of all oil levels and washer levels
• Service light reset
• Book stamp

£25 surcharge for engines above 2000cc or for brake fluid change. £10 surcharge for fully synthetic oil.
