Brides at Durker Roods hotel will start their day by having their make-up done by the hotel’s house beautician, who will prepare brides for their big arrival down the aisle. Meanwhile, up to 40 guests will be greeted upon arrival with a glass of Buck’s Fizz before taking their seats in the ceremony room. After the exchanging of vows, the bridal party can take to the mature gardens of the house, or make use of the ornate fixtures of the hotel’s interior for the photographs. Next, guests can enjoy a three-course meal, followed by tea and freshly filtered coffee. A choice of starter will be offered from roasted plum tomato and basil soup with thyme and black pepper croutons, chicken liver pate with homemade chutney and crostinis, or prawn cocktail served with marie rose sauce and granary bread. A main course can be chosen from roast topside of beef served with Yorkshire pudding and gravy, a field mushroom risotto with pesto and fresh Parmesan, or sage-roasted chicken served with bacon and mushroom sauce. Desserts can be selected from sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce and fresh cream, crème brulee, or lemon cheesecake with red berry compote. Each guest will be served wine with the meal and sparkling wine to toast the newlyweds. The evening festivities will consist of a disco in the reception room and service of a choice of hot sandwiches and twice-cooked potato wedges to fuel the dancing and merriment. The bride and groom can then retire in a superior room and other guests can stay in en suite rooms.

Durker Roods Hotel

Durker Roods Hotel is a 19th century manor house set in mature gardens a short distance from the Yorkshire Dales. The hotel was originally the private residence of Sir David Brown, owner of Aston Martin cars. It became a hotel and wedding venue in the mid-‘70s and now boasts 30 en suite guest rooms, all of which have Wi-Fi and TV. Wedding parties at Durker Roods can make use of the function room with its chandeliers, hardwood floors and ornate fireplace, which can be decorated in a contemporary or vintage style. The hotel also provides beauty treatments on site, helping bridal parties with preparations on the big day.
