Please note: Please note that timber may swell when subjected to changes to temperature and humidity (i.e. moving the hedgehog house from outdoors to indoors).
The wood has been treated with water-based varnish, perfectly safe for hedgehogs, but will need varnishing on the outside once a year. On no account should the hedgehog house be creosoted or treated with non-water-based preservatives or paint as the fumes remain for a long time and can be very harmful.
