Its late Gothic Manueline style flanked by Moorish watchtowers and stone-sculpted beasts is seen by many as an architectural symbol of Portugal’s Age of Discovery. The Berardo Museum provides a home for some of the world’s most famous modern art pieces, including works by 20th century masters such as Pollock, Picasso, and Warhol. Adventure seekers may also choose a trip to Sintra-Cascais, where walking trails traverse the coastal forests of this natural park. Lisbon boasts one of Europe’s most pleasant climates, with hot summers and warm winters. While the spring season is also a good period to visit the capital, summer is Portugal’s busiest tourist season. With agreeable temperatures, generally varying between the mid-20s and mid-30s, and with very low chances of rainfall, July and August may be the best time to visit Lisbon. Autumn is another good time for visitors, with very likable temperatures and sunny days. Although September sees just 25mm of rain on average, October and November are some of the wettest months of the year, setting the scene for the upcoming winter. Featuring a subtropical Mediterranean climate, winters in Lisbon are rainy.
