Grim Challenge

Held on terrain ranging from Army vehicle training tracks to motorcross circuits, the Grim Challenge events aim to test participants with an array of obstacles. Taking place in Aldershot, the run takes in the likes of trails, hills, mud, water, a sand dune and even a bog over the course of around eight miles. To add to the fun, a selection of man-made features will pop up on the route, ranging from railway tracks to camo netting and cunningly-placed logs. Participants can enter as individuals, or as part of a team of three in either women only, men only, or mixed categories, with prizes for the top five individuals and the winning teams. Besides the dirty running fun, the site also offers parking, toilets and changing facilities, with refreshments available for purchase in the Start/ Finish area.

Reviews

The various Grim Challenge events currently boasts over 10,200 likes on Facebook, while 2013’s Aldershot event picked up a positive review from Mudstacle. The reviewer was keen to praise the event’s emphasis on muddy and wet running, noting the obstacles added more of an interesting twist to proceedings rather than being the main focus, so their pace could be kept relatively high.
