The Proms on the Lawn
Ellington Colliery Band is coming to Kirkley Hall on 15 July to play at The Proms on The Lawn. Formed in 1925, the band initially started as a mixed instrumental group only to become an all-brass ensemble in the following years. They have since won the National Brass Band Lower Section Championship twice, as well as many other contests. Northumbrian soprano Rachel Dyson will also be performing, accompanied by Nick Butters. Guests are encouraged to bring their own blankets and the show will be preceded by an optional barbecue with refreshments.
