Christmas at the Dockyard December 1 - January 3
Soak up the festive atmosphere with Christmas lights, decorations and snow. Light up Christmas and celebrate the season in style at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard as part of a specular new event - Christmas at the Dockyard. Be wowed by the spectacular illuminations show, I Saw Three Ships, where HMS Victory, HMS Warrior 1860 and the Mary Rose will be projected onto the front of Action Stations. The illuminations show is interactive and visitors are encouraged to try it out.
Portsmouth Historic Dockyard
Portsmouth Historic Dockyard sends visitors on a trip back in time with over 800 years of Britain’s naval history laid bare for exploration. Lord Nelson’s legendary HMS Victory brings the Battle of Trafalgar to life, while the indomitable iron hull of HMS Warrior 1860 attests to Britain’s one-time ship-building prowess. The National Museum of the Royal Navy Portsmouth showcases centuries of maritime history through iconic artefacts and the Mary Rose gives insights into the Tudor life. Guests will also get access to the interactive Action Stations, which will celebrate this year’s festive season with guest-controlled projections of HMS Victory, HMS Warrior and Mary Rose. Curious explorers can also discover the HMS M.33, Boathouse 4, Explosion Museum of Naval Firepower, Royal Navy Submarine Museum and the Royal Marines Museum. If that’s not enough, a 45-minute Harbour Tour awaits them along with the exhibition 36 Hours: Jutland 1916, The Battle That Won the War.
