Two courses (usually £11.95 per person) on a lazy Sunday are on offer for two or four peckish patrons. After a starter of fishcake with crunchy salsa or chicken liver pâté, Sunday diners can tuck into a main dish of roast beef and Yorkshire pudding, pork with a tangy apple sauce and stuffing, or for vegetarians, the butternut squash risotto. Alternatively, a starter may be swapped for a sticky toffee pudding or baked rice pudding dessert.

The Merchant

Traditional meets modern at Grey's Place as the team serves up a la carte, lunch and light bites, Sunday roasts and flavourful meat dishes sourced locally. Large, hanging chandeliers complement the purple walls and decor throughout the restaurant. The High Street in the market town of Northallerton is home to the eatery, which also boasts an extensive wine list as well as several beers on tap.
