What is a dermal filler?
Also known as injectable facial filler, this treatment aims to reduce the visibility of fine lines and revitalise the skin.
How does it work?
Numbing cream applied prior to treatment. Clients have the opportunity to upgrade at appointment. Must be used with caution in patients on immunosuppressive therapy. Patients who are using products that can prolong bleeding (such as aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and warfarin) may experience increased bruising or bleeding at treatment areas. Not suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women. Not suitable for those with bleeding disorders, allergies to contents or keloid scarring. A soft-tissue filler is injected into the skin in a series of small injections, applied with a fine needle, across a 30- to 60-minute session. Fillers are composed of hyaluronic acid. Results usually vary depending on the type of skin and filler used.
What areas can be treated?
Most common treatment areas include the lips (60-minute session) and nasolabial folds (30-minute session).
What about the aftercare?
Mild redness, swelling and bruising may occur, which will eventually fade away with time - this may last up to one week in some people, Lip fillers up to 2 weeks. Prior the treatment customers are advised to avoid coffee, energetic drinks (Red Bull and others), alcohol, aspirin and other blood thinners, smoking before the injection may increase bleeding, cause bruising and impact in longer healing period. After treatment don't drink or eat at least 1 hour as your lips stay may feel numbed. Avoid hot drinks, salty, spicy food, touching or applying makeup on your lips or other injected area. Avoid heat, sun exposure within 24-72 hours of treatment, reduce physical activity and apply cold compresses or ice packs to alleviate the swelling.
