The Deal

Steam trains carry passengers on serene tours of Rother Valley, passing sights such as the loco yard at Rolvenden before arriving at Bodiam Castle. Tickets (usually £16 per adult) allow visitors to hop aboard the 2.30pm and 3.30pm locomotives at Tenterden station, grabbing a soft drink from the cafe on the way. Passengers can get on and off at any of five stations along the ten-and-a-half-mile railway, having ensured they'll be able to catch a train back again.

The Merchant

Kent & East Sussex's lovingly preserved rural light railway wends its way from Tenterden, through the Rother Valley to Bodiam Castle, and back again. Refreshements, souvenirs and gifts can be purchased from Tenterden station, where visitors also have the opportunity to explore The Colonel Stephens Railway Museum. While traversing the valley, the railway's Wealden Pullman luxury steam locomotive regularly plays host to fine dining and special occasions.
