Make a mark in history by placing ten blocks on a LEGO reconstruction of Durham Cathedral, one of Britain’s most treasured religious sites
About This Deal
The Deal
Designed by LEGO building company Bright Bricks, the 350,000-block LEGO replica of Durham Cathedral will span 3.84 in length and 1.7m in height, and features a quire and nave which slides open to reveal an intricate interior. Visitors can join in the fun by laying down ten LEGO bricks of their own, with extra blocks available for £1 each. The proceeds go towards the Romanesque cathedral’s Open Treasure project, which gives public access to exhibition spaces, a 14th century monks’ dormitory, priory kitchen and more.
The Merchant
Dating back to AD 1093, the imposing Durham Cathedral is one of the UK’s foremost examples of Norman architecture and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Admission is free and visits can take place every day of the year, with guests able to explore the ancient Library and take in the relics of St Cuthbert. Guided tours and the chance to climb the 66m central tower are available for an additional charge. The cathedral regularly puts on art exhibitions and study weeks, as well as daily choral performances.
