Upon an afternoon visit to The Royal Horseguards, patrons can enjoy a choice of post-meridiem spread amid the ambient lighting of the classically styled lounge. Visitors opting for the Duke of York can savour a choice of the hotel’s daily cakes and tarts, plus freshly baked fruit and plain scones with homemade fruit preserve and Cornish clotted cream. Fare is suitably accompanied by a choice of speciality loose leaf tea such as white needle, pear and ginger or strawberries and cream.

Guests may alternatively opt for the Royal Horseguard’s Signature Afternoon Tea, which comprises finger sandwiches and assorted savoury bites followed by handmade cakes and pastries, scones and tea. Afternoon tea visitors may choose to add a glass of Laurent-Perrier Champagne, or opt for a Champagne flight to sample a curated selection of three of the brand’s varieties of bubbly. The Merchant

The five star Royal Horseguards overlooks the Thames at an Embankment location. The hotel is a short walk from Charing Cross, Embankment and Westminster tube stations and minutes from the greenery of St. James’s Park. The Victorian building acted as the HQ of the Secret Service during World War I and the restored interior retains much of its period charm. The 283 rooms feature high ceilings, plasma screen TVs and complimentary Wi-Fi.

One Twenty One Two Restaurant’s distinctive take on international cuisine has earned two AA rosettes. The dining area sports red plush seating, chandeliers and oil paintings while the terrace leads onto Whitehall Gardens. Equus Bar serves an innovative array of cocktails, and afternoon tea is served in the lounge. Located adjacent to the hotel, One Whitehall Place plays host to weddings, conferences and parties for up to 250 guests. The hotel offers 24-hour room service, as well as a concierge app which lets guests book taxis or restaurant tables and browse local attractions.
