The Deal

Visitors can explore the stately splendour of the Lullingstone Castle estate and the World Garden, with entry available Friday, Saturday and Sunday from midday. The extensive grounds feature a lake, beekeeping area and the Norman-era St Botolph’s Parish Church, while the World Garden lets curious parties explore a series of themed areas, including the Cloud Garden, Miniature World and Moroccan Blue room, all full of plants and quirky details. Tickets are available for two adults (usually £7 per person), or a family of either two adults and two children between 5 and 15 years old, or of one adult and three children.

The Merchant

Set in the greenery of the Kentish countryside, Lullingstone Castle and The World Garden has been in the Hart Dyke family for 20 generations. The manor house and gatehouse was originally built in 1497 and overlook a 15-acre lake, all set within a 120-acre estate. Tom Hart Dyke, heir to the estate, is known for various television appearances, as well as his World Garden, a dream showcase for various plants and horticultural know-how he came up with when in captivity after being kidnapped while trekking in Panama. Various events take place in the grounds, ranging from fire engine rallies to fairs, while the garden is also home to the National Collection of Eucalypts, containing over 100 varieties of the plant.
