About Mount Edgcumbe House and Country Park

The former home of the Earls of Mount Edgcumbe. Mount Edgcumbe House is set in a Grade 1 listed landscape within an 865-acre Country Park on the Rame Peninsular in South East Cornwall. Built in the 1500s and restored after World War Two, this Tudor-style mansion is one of the region's most popular historic tourist destinations. Decorated in a classical style and home to many notable works of art collected by the family, including some of the finest examples of 16th-century Flemish tapestry, the house offers visitors peace and tranquillity to explore the past. Guests can stroll through Mount Edgcumbe Country Park, the earliest landscaped park in Cornwall, made up of Grade I listed gardens and 55 Grade II and II* listed structures. Discover the Earl's Garden, home to rare trees, including an over 400-year old lime. Colourful flowers and heather grace the recreated Victorian East Lawn terrace that boasts spectacular views over Plymouth Sound.
