Traditional seafood or chicken and chorizo paella are the potential delectable choices for two or four guests at Ochis. Groupon speaks to Dennis Brooks, owner of Ochis about his favourite dish on the menu.
How did you get started in the restaurant industry?
“I’ve always been interested in Caribbean food so I opened a restaurant and called it Ochis, named after the beautiful Ocho Rio region of Jamaica.”
What’s the restaurant like inside? What sort of look and feel were you going for?
“Ochis has changed from a Caribbean theme to a more modern contemporary feel with modern decoration plus candles and music to match the mood. Its very popular on Valentines Day and over Christmas. Its also suitable for romantic nights plus large groups can be catered for.”
What was the inspiration for the menu? Does it have a unifying theme?
“Caribbean food with a Mediterranean twist was the main inspiration. We now have have a tapas and starters section plus we also have a very interesting sea food and steak section.”
What’s your favourite dish from the menu?
“My personal preference is the red snapper fish but the most popular dish is jerk chicken with rice and peas or piri piri chicken with fries.”
If you could have dinner with three famous people (living or dead, fact or fiction) who would they be and why?
“I’d have to say Bob Marley, Usain Bolt and James Martin.”
