Immersing themselves in the sunny ambience of the tropical Caribbean, visitors to Ochis can choose from two courses of punchy West Indian cuisine. Starting off, visitors will have a choice from options such as fresh flat bread with roast peppers and manchego cheese; garlic mushrooms; and jalapeño peppers filled with cream cheese and hummus. Moving on, mains may include jerk chicken served with rice ‘n’ peas, plantain and honey jerk sauce; curried chicken in creamed coconut sauce and served either mild or hot; or chef’s own seafood paella. A dessert can end proceedings for those shunning starters, with choices such as the chocolate brownie and the tarte au citron. Customers should note that all menu items are subject to change.

G: What’s the restaurant like inside?

“Ochis has a Caribbean theme, but we’ve recently given it a more modern and contemporary feel, with candles and music to match the occasion.”

G: What was the inspiration for the menu? Does it have a unifying theme?”

“We specialise in cooking up Caribbean food, but with a slightly Mediterranean twist; we now actually have a tapas and starters section, along with seafood and steaks.”

G: What’s your favourite dish from the menu?

“My personal favourite is red snapper fish, but the most popular dish is jerk chicken with rice ‘n’ peas.”

G: If you could have dinner with three famous people (living or dead, fact or fiction), who would they be?

“Bob Marley, Usain Bolt and the chef James Martin.”
