What is laser eye surgery?
Laser eye surgery aims to improve vision, tending to both long and short-sightedness. The operation is performed under local anaesthetic, in the form of eye drops, and involves a careful reshaping of the cornea.
What happens at the consultation?
The practitioner will explain the process and perform an eye test. There will then be an opportunity to raise any questions and concerns, and discuss the risks and factors of consideration.
Who is suitable for the treatment?
Treatment is for +4 to -9 diopters with astigmatism up to 4 diopters. Customers who need very strong glasses, with prescriptions over -10 and +5 may not be suitable, in which case alternative treatments may be recommended.
What aftercare is needed?
Clients will need to rest their eyes after the surgery, and are therefore recommended to arrange for a family member or friend to take care of them. Driving will not be possible and a few days off work may be necessary. Eye pads are often worn for at least 24 hours and, if not, sunglasses can prevent dust or debris from getting in the eye. Customers will also receive an aftercare pack with eye drops supply for each eye treated, protective eye goggles and cotton gauze pads to clean the eyes.

Medical Restrictions: Not suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women, or patients whose main problem is dependence on reading glasses, patients whose prescription was changed recently and patients with glaucoma, dry eyes, diabetes, certain medical conditions, such as rheumatoid arthritis. Customers who need very strong glasses, with prescriptions over -10 and +5 may not be suitable, in which case alternative treatments may be recommended. Follow-up appointment's will take place one week and one month after surgery. Must sign consent form prior to treatment. During the procedure a local anesthetic, in the form of eye drops, will be used to anesthetise the eye. Please be aware that after treatment eyes might be light sensitive and irritated, therefore it's recommended to return home and rest.
