Day 2 | Bogota

PALOQUEMAO FRUIT AND VEGETABLE MARKET

Departure from our hotel for the Paloquemao fruit and vegetable market. You'll get to enjoy a typical Colombian experience as we stroll through this produce market, which is one of the largest in the country. Most catering professionals buy their supplies here, which is why it's constantly buzzing with activity. Here we'll find all kinds of fruit and vegetables, from the most familiar to the more unusual. Return to our hotel at the end of the tour.

Day 3 | Bogota - Zipaquira - Raquira - Villa de Leyva

A private transport will take you from Bogota to Villa de Leyva, a charming colonial village. We will stop off in Raquira and Zipaquira to visit the Salt Cathedral. Journey time: around 4 hours.

TOUR OF THE MUSEUMS AND THE ECCE HOMO MONASTERY

We will set off to discover the main sites of interest around Villa de Leyva. The El Fossil Museum, where you can admire a 120-million-year-old Kronosaurus fossil, reveals that, a very long time ago, there was an ocean in place of everything we see today. The archaeological park teaches us about the beliefs of ancient people gourds, with its Muisca calendar made up of monoliths, and the massive Santo Ecce Homo Monastery invites us to enjoy the peace and beauty of its architecture.

Day 5 | Villa de Leyva - Barichara

Private transport from Villa de Leyva to Barichara along the Andes route. Journey time: around 4 hours.

BARICHARA'S CULTURAL AND ARTISTIC WALKING TOUR

Visit to the town of Barichara, situated at an altitude of 1,340 m. Many artists and craftsmen have made this haven of peace; a UNESCO World Heritage Site, their home. Stroll along its cobbled streets, churches, and parks and enjoy the view of the Suárez Canyon. The tour ends with a visit to one of the local craftsmen's workshops: painting, paper craft, sculpture or tobacco, depending on what you are interested in.

Day 6 | Barichara - Guane - Barichara

WALK TO GUANE

Following an ancient path, El Camino Real (the royal path of Spanish colonisation), we descend to the small village of Guane, where life seems to follow an ancestral rhythm. Its whitewashed cob houses, stone streets, and small archaeological museum transport us back in time.

Visit to the archaeological museum (closed on Mondays and Saturdays) and return to Barichara.

Walking time: 3 hours.

Day 7 | Barichara - Barrancabermeja

A car will take you from Barichara to Barrancabermeja.

Duration: approximately 5 hours 30 mins.

Day 8 | Barrancabermeja - El Banco - Mompox

A chalupe will take you from Barrancabermeja to El Banco. Journey time: around 6 hours.

Note: Typical transport service that avoids a long car journey or the cost of a plane ticket. It should, however, be noted that the transport conditions are very basic (particularly on account of the limited space). Bring a jacket for the wind on the boat and a waterproof coat.

A car will take you from El Banco to Mompox.

Day 9 | Cienaga Pijiño - Mompox

BOAT ON THE CIENAGA DE PIJIÑO

Boat trip on the Magdalena River. Discover the Pijiño marshes, take a dip, and observe the flora and fauna. The sunset is a magical moment. Return to Mompox in the late afternoon.

If you like authentic destinations off the beaten track, then this is the tour for you. Afternoon departure from our hotel, heading for La Boquilla. On arrival in the village, we'll enjoy a canoe trip through the mangroves to watch the birds at sunset. The tranquil landscape is ideal for relaxing and enjoying an evening close to nature. Return to Cartagena at around 7:00 p m.
