The Deal

Feet can be found on skis or snowboard during a one-hour starter session on a dry slope (usually £65 per hour). Sessions cover the basics of the popular snow sports, with progression from snow plough through to parallel positions for first time skiers, and straight runs and sidestepping for snowboarders. Skiers and boards with previous experience can instead opt for a two-hour lesson which covers effective speed control and how to stop in a snowplough for skiiers, and basic and diagonal sideslipping and falling leaf and sideslip traversing for boarders. Wee ones aged four through to six years old can be introduced to the world of skiing with a ten-week course (£66). Each week, the kids will take to the dry-slope for a one-hour lesson, beginning with how to move around when wearing skis, and building up to develop plough steering skills which will help them control their speed and direction. Ski equipment is supplied, and classes will take place over consecutive weekends, beginning in mid August or early September.

##The Merchant Silksworth Ski Slope is a fully-fledged snowsports centre that teaches skiing and snowboarding on three dry slopes. Learners as young as four years old can take to the ‘snow’, with two nursery slopes for little ones and those that are just getting started. Meanwhile, more advanced skiers and snowboarders can enjoy recreational skiing on the 165m flood-lit slope, and snow tubes provide a non-ski or board alternative.
