Just how old is it?
Tamworth Castle is believed to date back as far as the tenth century, when it is thought that the first structure was erected. This was fortified during Norman times, when a motte and bailey was built. It continued to be moulded through Tudor, Stuart, Georgian and Victorian times as it passed through various hands.
