Newleyweds can celebrate their nuptials in style with a grand shindig or more intimate affair at Abbey House Hotel and Gardens. After a red carpet arrival, couples can take to 14 acres of landscaped grounds for picturesque wedding photography, before enjoying a three-course celebratory feast with up to 50 guests. Revellers can post messages and well-wishes in to a replica cast iron George VI post box, or visit the candy-floss factory. In the evening, an additional 30 guests can join the fun, with a hot meal on-hand to help keep energy levels up for dancing, while the bride and groom can retire to a honeymoon suite of deep carpets and a bath big enough for two. Friday and Saturday bookings after 1 April 2015 are avaiable for a £500 surcharge, while additional daytime guests can come along for £35 per person. Extra evening guests can visit for a £10 per person supplement, while guests will be able to book a double or twin room for the night for £100.

The Merchant

Dating back to the early 20th century, Abbey House Hotel and Gardens is a traditional sandstone country manor in the verdant surrounds of the Lake District. The on-site restaurant uses locally sourced produce where possible, and fish from sustainable sources too. The Great Abbey Hall can cater to large parties and extravagant events, alternatively the Furness Room welcomes more intimate occasions. With picturesque grounds to wander, guests could even stumble upon the remains of the 11th century Furness Abbey on-site.
