About The Spa
Getting away from all the hustle and bustle is an absolute must sometimes, and you’re sure to love the hotel’s tranquil spa. As soon as you walk through the door, you will be transported to a place where indulgence is all around you. The amenities in the Spa include: Swimming pool, Sauna, Treatment Rooms, Jacuzzi and Steam Room.
Guests are required to where a robe or appropriate clothing for afternoon tea in the restaurant. Robes & slippers are not included in this deal. Robes can be hired with disposable slippers for £7.50 per person subject to availability or guests are welcome to bring their own.

History of Afternoon Teas
In the 1640’s sailors from the Far East would bring gifts of Tea into the country. By the 1700’s tea had become a popular drink and was on sale in more than 500 tea/coffee houses. In 1840, Anna, the 7th Duchess of Bedford, pioneered the idea of Afternoon Tea, she is said to have complained of “having that sinking feeling” during the late afternoon. At the time it was usual for people to take only two main meals a day, breakfast, and dinner at around 8 o’clock in the evening. The solution for the Duchess was a pot of tea and a light snack, taken privately in her boudoir during the afternoon. Before long all of fashionable society were sipping tea and nibbling sandwiches in the middle of the afternoon. Hotels such as the Belstead Brook continued this past time and it is thanks to Anna that the Belstead Brook Hotel has served Afternoon Tea since its opening.
