The Alexa-enabled Amazon Fire Stick 4K is our all-round favourite of the Fire Stick crew. Designed especially for 4K-enabled TVs, this is your best bet if you’re looking to future-proof your streaming setup. As more video content and TVs are available in higher-resolution formats—think 4K, UHD, HDR 10+ and Dolby Vision—you'll want a streaming device that keeps up.

The middle child of the Fire Stick family, the Fire TV Stick 3rd gen offers the same storage and processor as the 4K Stick, but with HD streaming instead of 4K. You’ll still have access to Alexa, making it easy to control your TV and Amazon devices hands-free. If you aren’t planning on upgrading to a 4K TV anytime soon, this model will tick all the boxes and save you a few quid.

If you’re looking for the most cost-effective Fire Stick, this is your best bet. The Amazon Fire Stick Lite is Amazon’s cheapest streaming stick, but still comes with plenty of bells and whistles. It’s Alexa voice-enabled, boasts 8GB storage and streams in HD. The main drawback is the lack of TV control buttons, meaning you’ll need to keep your original remote handy if you want to use it without Alexa.

The 4K Max Fire Stick offers all the perks of the 4K model, streaming in 4K Ultra HD with Dolby Vision support and Dolby Atmos sound. The ‘Max’ part? This model is compatible with WiFi 6—making it 40% more powerful with faster app starts and more fluid navigation. If you already own the 4K Fire Stick you might not need the upgrade, but if you’ve got a WiFi 6 router in your home, it’ll be worth the investment.

For the uninitiated: the Amazon Fire TV Stick works by turning any TV with an HDMI port into a smart TV. This gives you access to thousands of movies and TV shows, including BBC iPlayer, Netflix, Prime Video, YouTube, NOW, Disney+ and Apple TV, alongside plenty of other niche and live streaming channels.
If you already have a smart TV, a Fire Stick can make it smarter—providing access to more apps and content, faster and with higher quality. All Amazon Fire Sticks are Alexa-enabled, so you can control your TV (and any other Amazon devices in your home) hands-free.
