Amazon Prime Day is all done and dusted for 2021. Looking for more great savings? The next major sales event is Black Friday, which falls on 26th November 2021. In the meantime, you can find some incredible deals with Groupon's exclusive discount codes. You won't find these offers anywhere else!
It's here! Amazon Prime Day 2021 is taking place on the 21st and 22nd of June this year, and it's prime time to purchase a new TV (if you'll excuse the pun). This year's Amazon Prime Day TV deals have cut the cost of 4K, QLED and OLED TVs by up to £600 - including big brands like Samsung, LG and Sony. We've done our homework and gathered the best tech deals you can find in the Amazon Prime sale today.
If Amazon Prime Day 2020 feels like just yesterday, that’s because the Covid-19 pandemic pushed the 48-hour spending session back to October last year. It remains an annual event, and Prime Day 2021 is well underway. Like all big sales, you should proceed with caution. It’s the ideal time to purchase larger electronics, but overspending on a good deal is still money out of your own pocket; stick to a list to prevent any shopping regrets.
We cover everything you need to know about this summer event in our Amazon Prime Day guide. You’ll have to be an Amazon Prime member to access the best Prime Day TV deals. If you don’t fancy forking out, you can sign up for a 30-day free trial and cancel before it ends; although, keeping your subscription means you can stream Prime Video on your new TV. Students get an even better deal: 6 months’ free membership and then 50% off for the rest of their studies!
Another quick tip. If you own an Alexa, try asking ‘what are my Prime Day deals?’. There are rumours that you’ll get access to certain discounts before everyone else. Otherwise, you’ll find the Amazon Prime Day TV deals on the dedicated Amazon Prime Day 2021 page on the website.
Even in the midst of a pandemic, Prime Day 2020 surpassed our expectations. It’s grown year-on-year since it began in 2015, and while Amazon likes to throw in a few curveballs, we’ve learned a lot about the kind of Prime Day TV deals you can expect over the years. Big-ticket items and Amazon-own products typically undergo the biggest discounts. Typically, 4K TVs are the most cost-effective if you value sharp image quality but aren’t necessarily interested in all the fancy acronyms (like OLED and QLED) attributed to more expensive models.
Amazon launched the Fire TV Edition range in November 2020, a set of smart televisions starting from £249.99 for 32” to £499.99 for 55”. This just missed the cut-off for last year’s Prime Day in October, but Amazon Prime Day 2021 is a big year for Fire TV savings. Expect to save approximately £80.
JVC Fire TV Edition 32” | £249.99, £199 20% off (save £50) |
JVC Fire TV Edition 40” | £329.99, £249 25% off (save £80.99) |
JVC Fire TV Edition 43” | £349.99, £275 21% off (save £74.99) |
JVC Fire TV Edition 50” | £449 £369 18% off (save £80) |
JVC Fire TV Edition 55” | £499.99, £399 20% off (save £100) |
A technical guide to Prime Day TVs: 4K vs QLED vs OLED - what's the difference?
Shopping for a new TV can feel a bit like trying to interpret an alien language. All the acronyms can be pretty confusing to the average consumer. 4K refers to a resolution of roughly 4000 pixels. QLED and OLED televisions can be 4K, but if a TV is marked as 4K, it doesn’t necessarily make it a QLED/OLED TV. Further information on these more advanced technologies, below. QLED stands for “quantum dot LED”. This is a new type of technology kicked off by Samsung in 2013 which is more durable and offers better contrast between light and dark. Gamers or film-lovers might be interested in this option. OLED stands for “organic LED”. These TVs tend to be thinner and more lightweight, although they’re also typically the most expensive. OLED TVs have the best light/dark contrast, but there’s also a possibility of image retention. Image retention is when the screen retains a faint outline of an image, but this is rare and usually temporary. |
