When was the London Eye built?
The London Eye was constructed in 1999 with the formal opening ceremony held on 31 December 1999. However, the London Eye wasn’t officially opened to the general public until March 2000.
How many pods are in the London Eye?
The London Eye has 32 pods, representing the 32 Boroughs of London. Each pod holds up to 28 people. You can either buy a general ticket and ride the pod with fellow tourists or book a private pod for your group.
When can I see the fireworks at the London Eye?
Start the New Year off with a bang at the London Eye’s New Year’s Eve event. Although you can’t ride the wheel (rotations stop after 3pm), you can still attend the celebrations and watch the incredible fireworks display. Tickets to this event are limited to 100,000 people.
What is inside London Eye?
The London Eye is an observation wheel with 32 pods with a 360° moving view of the city. Each pod is about 8 metres long and 4 metres tall and able to hold up to 28 people. You’ll either share a pod with fellow visitors or you’re able to book an entire pod to yourself.
