Bournemouth Attractions

Tucked neatly away in the sunny south-east corner of England, Bournemouth has long been considered one of the most delightful coastal resort towns that the United Kingdom has to offer, and continues to attract tourists from all over the country every year. Given its reputation as a particularly popular holiday destination, Bournemouth is a town that's been expanded and developed in order to cater for all ages and tastes, offering golden beaches, dazzling views of the English Channel, a buzzing nightlife scene, and a variety of mouth-watering fine dining restaurants that serve as a sophisticated accompaniment to the (delicious) guilty pleasure fish-and-chip stores that line the seafront.

Bournemouth's Beach Scene

Bournemouth is home to a magnificent seven mile stretch of sandy beaches, sitting peacefully below a charming pier that stretches out into the English Channel. For all the Bournemouth attractions on offer, the sandy beaches on a hot summer's day really are hard to beat - providing cliff views, rows of palm trees, and some glorious scenes during sunset. If you're planning on coming down for the day, it's vital that you do so as early as possible, as the beaches typically fill up quickly. The Bournemouth Air Festival dominates the coastline during the summer, offering flying displays that soar above the sands. Every beach is well-manned, free and suitable for children of all ages. If you're planning on giving your pet a run out, Alum Chine, Middle Chine, and Fisherman's Walk provide "dog-friendly" beach environments.

Culture in Bournemouth

Whilst Bournemouth remains an attractive location known for its ability to generate summer fun, the reality is that this coastal town also has its very own unique history, culture and sense of prestige. The respected University of Bournemouth institution offers higher education to a multicultural group of students, whereas Lower, Central and Upper Gardens offer a lush, green serene sight for anyone wishing to take a peaceful stroll through the park. The Oceanarium offers a spectacular insight into the life aquatic, whereas the beautiful Pavilion Theatre is home to some terrific shows every season.
