Places To Eat In Glasgow That Bake Instagram-able Treats

BY: Laura Pearson Smith |26 Jan 2016

Part of the enjoyment that I get from cakes, pastries and other sweet treats is from the way they look. Who can resist a beautifully decorated cupcake or a perfectly layered and frosted gateaux? These places to eat in Glasgow serve the prettiest edible delights that you won’t be able to resist Instagram-ing. You must check them out immediately…

Donuts to Die For

Nic’s NYC Deli & Donuts makes the most amazing looking and tasting donuts in true American style. They have an abundance of delicious flavours and design novelty donuts for the likes of Halloween too.

Must-try treats include their Dirt Donut (which looks like a chocolate paradise topped with a messy mountain of crushed Oreos and chocolate fondant) and their girly Super Glossy Mother Pucker (a bright glossy pink frosted donut with strawberry crème).

You can buy one donut masterpiece for £1.49, six for £7.99 or twelve for £12.99. I challenge you to stop at one! Nic’s NYC Deli & Donuts is situated in one of Glasgow’s main shopping centres and they make great deli sandwiches too if you want to make a meal of it.Nic’s NYC Deli & Donuts, 4dh, 50 St.Enoch Square, Glasgow, G1 4DH

Too Pretty To Eat Cupcakes

Humble Pie Bakery in Bothwell has all their pretty cupcake creations visible from the window. It’s impossible to walk past and not go in to get one. They also make some stunning triple-layer gateaux- their Red Velvet cake is dreamy. Their buttercream is incredibly creamy and make with Madagascan Vanilla. Single cupcakes range from £1.95 to £2.25 and a must-try is their award-winning Chocolate Orange cupcake- chocolate sponge with Belgian chocolate frosting and topped with a chocolate orange segment. The Humble Pie Bakery is on Bothwell’s main shopping street and has plenty of parking nearby- so next time you are craving sugar, make the trip!Humble Pie Bakery, 47a Main Street, Bothwell, G71 8ER

Carefully Crafted Tarts

West End bakery Cottonrake is a real rustic place with an eye-catching illuminated sign that serves a selection of freshly made in-house treats. Their slabs of marshmallow are fabulous and if you get one topping their luxury hot chocolate, you’ll never want to leave. They also make the cutest raspberry and fresh cream shortbread sandwiches and elegant chocolate tarts that look like they have come straight out of a French patisserie. All of their cakes and pastries cost less than £3, which is great value for such carefully crafted delicacies. It’s in a handy location just a short stroll from Kelvinbridge underground station; so is a perfect pit-stop on a weekend stroll in this popular part of the city.
