The Deal

DSLR lessons see budding photographers assemble in groups of up to ten to be tutored by a seasoned expert (usually £99). Time is first spent in the studio, with tuition focusing on manual camera use, in particular fstop, aperture and ISO. The remainder of time is spent in the centre of Bath for learners to put new skills in to practice, snapping historical locations and landmarks within this World Heritage Site city.

Groupon Asks Anthony Miller, Owner of AKM Photography, about what makes a great photo, and his favoured style of teaching.

What do you enjoy about being a photographer?

"I love the creativity, and that every day is always different. During the last 9 years as a professional, I have worked all over the UK and worldwide, from fashion clients in London to interior photoshoots in Abu Dhabi. I really couldn't see my self doing anything else."

What do you think defines a good image?

"For me, a good image is one that has been produced without heavy use of post-production. I'm an old school photographer, and worked with negatives for 5 years as a professional. My work is only slightly edited on Photoshop – I try to get everything right when taking the photo."

What sort of approach do you take to tuition?

"I try not to overcomplicate things, and explain everything in a visual manner."
