- These standard olive trees (Olea europaea) are slow-growing, self-fertile and evergreen
- Usually associated with the Mediterranean, these hardy trees will successfully grow in the UK gardens
- Offers an elegant and modern lollipop of grey-green foliage atop a tall slender stem
- Small fragrant flowers may be followed by smooth green fruits during long, hot summers
- Grow in very sheltered gardens or large containers
- If container-grown, use a soil-based compost such as John Innes No.3
- It’s advised to move olives to a cold greenhouse or sheltered position during the winter
- Avoid planting in very fertile soils as this will encourage foliage growth instead of fruits
- Grow in containers, beds and borders
- At maturity expect a height of 150cm (59in) and spread of 50cm (20in)
- Supplied as a pot-grown plant (height 100-120cm inc pot) in a 21cm nursery pot
- Optional stylish patio pot made from sturdy, lightweight plastic, in a dark grey/anthracite colour 32cm diameter
- For the best garden performance position in full sun when planting
