The Hotel
A former friary located a 10-minute drive from the centre of Dumfries, the Friars Carse country house hotel matches its Baronial entrance hall with a red-brick facade on a 45-acre estate in the Scottish Borders.
The 21 bedrooms are traditionally decorated with wooden furnishings and wall tapestries matching the drapery, and feature en suite bathrooms, TVs and hospitality trays.
The Whistle Restaurant serves seasonal dishes prepared with locally sourced produce, while the bar comes in handy when it comes to tipples and refreshing beverages after a game at the full-size table in the snooker room.
Private sea trout, grayling and salmon fishing is possible on the River Nith, with tackle storage, drying room and freezing facilities also available on site, while the surrounding area invites guests for clay pigeon shooting, cycling and golf.
