- Green Fig trees may look exotic but are fully hardy and can be grown very successfully outdoors, cropping reliably in the UK climate
- Ficus carica or the Common Fig is a hardy shrub, producing crops of sweet, juicy figs from August to September
- With their appealing foliage, Figs also make an ideal feature in the garden
- Ideal for wall-training or growing in large patio containers
- The fruits will develop in the spring and then ripen from August to September
- A second crop may sometimes develop in late summer and, if protected, these will ripen the following summer
- Grow fig trees in a sheltered, sunny position - a warm, south-facing site against a wall is ideal
- Grow in borders or containers
- At maturity expect a height of 3m (9ft) and a spread of 4m (13ft)
- Supplied as a pot-grown plant in a 9cm nursery pot
- For the best garden performance position in full sun when planting
