About The HM Frigate Unicorn
One of the oldest ship's in the world, the ex-navy HM Frigate Unicorn is Scotland’s only preserved warship, and now allows inquisitive visitors to explore its interior. Families can head down to the ship’s mooring in Victoria Dock, where the ship is split into four levels consisting of the upper deck, gun deck, lower deck, and orlop and hold. The upper deck, from where the ship was commanded features carronades, the gun deck has a 46 18-pounder cannon, which the bulk of the 300-strong crew helped man the guns. Each floor is abrim with the Unicorn’s fascinating history, and guests may learn about everything from its construction to its part in The Golden Age of Sail.
