What is laser eye surgery?
Laser eye surgery aims to improve vision, tending to both long and short-sightedness. The operation is performed under local anaesthetic and involves a careful reshaping of the cornea.
What happens at the consultation?
The practitioner will explain the process and perform an eye test. There will then be an opportunity to raise any questions and concerns, and discuss the risks and factors of consideration.
Who is suitable for the treatment?
People with a prescription. Not suitable for people with astigmatism.
What aftercare is needed?
Clients will need to rest their eyes after the surgery and are therefore recommended to arrange for a family member or friend to take care of them. Driving will not be possible and a few days off work may be necessary. Eye pads are often worn for at least 24 hours and, if not, sunglasses can prevent dust or debris from getting in the eye.

Treatment is for +6 to -12 dioptres with astigmatism up to 6 dioptres. The procedure only requires a local anaesthetic, which is included. Therapist-client confidentiality privileges apply excluding intent to harm. All follow up appointments included: 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, and 12 months if needed. Preparing for treatment, the patient will be at the Optyco Laser Eye Surgery Clinic for approximately two hours on the treatment day. During the procedure, a local anaesthetic, in the form of eye drops, will be used to anaesthetise the eye. Please be advised that after treatment eyes might be irritated and light sensitive. After the treatment, the patient will be required to return the following day for a check-up. The patient should be brought to the appointment as the patient will not be insured to drive until an optometrist has confirmed that the patient meets the legal driving standards. It is essential to attend follow-up appointments to assess the eyes and monitor the healing process. The cooling-off period between consultation and surgery – 2 weeks. Possible side effects.
