Whether you want to get involved and experience flying on a trapeze first hand, or prefer to keep your feet firmly on the ground, we’ve got a roundup of everything circus in London.  From spectacular cabaret perfromances to restaurant’s with a twist, and whilst we’d normally say don’t try this at home, on this occassion it’s kind of what we’re encouraging!

Flying Fantastic 

Battersea, Farringdon, Old Street and Wimbledon are all home to the Aeriel Fitness Centre, Flying Fantastic, which offers a variety of circus style classes throughout the week.  Newcomers need not be intimidated as classes are split into small groups based on experience.  Each level has their own dedicated instructor and exercises are structured so that you can work at a level which suits.  For those that are new, watching the more advanced students will have you in awe and keep you coming back to practise.  Try your hand at aerial hopes, silks and even yoga as well as trapeze.  You’re guaranteed to have a laugh, and more than likely ache the following day, a lot!

Gorilla Circus - Flying Trapeze School 

If you ever dreamt of running away to join the circus, this could be the class for you.  Over the two hour session you’ll work your way up from warm up and practise on a low bar, to attempting to be caught by an instructor from a separate trapeze. Not one for the faint hearted!  Classes run outdoors in Regents Park during the summer, and move indoors to a venue in North Greenwich for the colder months. £28 for a two hour class. www.gorillacircus.com

Southwark Circus Corner 

The Southwark Gymnastics Club offer value for money aerial classes in Peckham and Camberwell.  Try your hand at aerial silks or ropes at a drop in class or join one of the five week courses. £15 drop in £60/5 week course.If the thought of participation overwhelms you with fear, then how about the easier option, watch someone else doing the hard work:

Cabaret Restaurant and Venue 

Popular restaurant come performance space, Circus, in Covent Garden, is guaranteed to entertain.  Whilst enjoying a delicious meal in beautiful surroundings you will be entertained with performers “popping up” throughout the evening.  Whether you chose to enjoy the pan asian menu or prefer to head to the bar for cocktails, Circus has got your evening entertainment covered. La Soiree 

La Soiree is an Olivier Award winning Cabaret show.  Back showing in London until the 17th January you can catch this jaw droppingly good show at the Southbank’s Spiegeltent, next to the Jubilee Gardens.  A variety of performers take to the stage, old and new. Expect the unexpected.
